Literatuurlijst Robert Jacob Gordon

Hieronder een aanbevolen leeslijst voor een ieder die zich verder in Robert Jacob Gordon, zijn leven, werk en tijd wil verdiepen. Sommige van de genoemde standaardwerken zijn moeilijk of niet verkrijgbaar, behalve in (universiteits)bibliotheken. Ik hoop dan ook dat de hernieuwde aandacht voor Gordon ertoe zal leiden dat studies zoals die van Barnard, Cullinan en Rookmaaker zullen worden herdrukt en voor een groter publiek beschikbaar komen. In de loop van de ‘blog-serie’ zal de literatuurlijst met verdere relevante werken en artikelen worden aangevuld.

Sinds kort zijn de kaarten en tekeningen van Robert Jacob Gordon, bekend als de “Gordon Atlas”, uit het Rijksmuseum Amsterdam, en de manuscripten vol reisjournaals, brieven, verslagen en aantekeningen uit de Brenthurst Library, online bijeengebracht in de prachtige website robertjacobgordon.nl. Een ideaal platform om op ontdekkingsreis te gaan.
